What does Third Party Car Insurance cover?
Third Party Property Damage Insurance covers accidental damage to other people's cars and property caused by the use of your car. But you're not covered for any damage to your own car, as you would be with Comprehensive Car Insurance. Bingle doesn't have a Third Party Fire and Theft car insurance product, so if you want cover for this, you'll need to take up Comprehensive Car Insurance.
This cover isn't the same as Compulsory Third Party (CTP) or Green Slip insurance. CTP covers your liability to pay compensation for injuries to other people. It's a mandatory insurance that can be purchased separately when registering your car. In some Australian states, CTP might be included in your vehicle registration costs. Learn more about Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Car Insurance.
Do I need Third Party Car Insurance?
While not mandatory, Third Party Car Insurance (also known as Third Party Property Damage Insurance) is important because it provides cover for accidental damage to someone else's car or property through the use of your car. Otherwise, you'd have to cover the costs yourself, which may be very expensive.
While it's typically cheaper and doesn't offer the high level of cover that Comprehensive Car Insurance provides, it still gives you some level of protection. For example, if you have Third Party Car Insurance and hit someone's car, you'll be covered for your legal liability up to $20 million.

Is CTP the same as Third Party insurance?
Third Party Car Insurance is different to CTP (Compulsory Third Party). CTP Insurance covers your liability to other people’s injuries involving your vehicle. Third party property damage covers liability for accidental damage to other people's vehicles and property arising from the use of your car, up to $20 million.
Because we're so busy offering great car insurance at a low price, Bingle doesn't offer CTP insurance – check out AAMI or Suncorp Insurance (who, like Bingle, are also part of The Suncorp Network).

Are learner drivers insured?
Learner drivers (people on their Ls) will not need to get a separate car insurance. As long as there is a listed driver in the car, they are automatically covered under the listed driver's Bingle insurance policy.
The learner driver will then be treated as a listed driver, and an additional age excess will apply if they are under the age of 25 at the time of the incident. Once the learner driver is on their Ps you may want to list them as a driver on your policy. Otherwise an unlisted driver excess might apply.
